Barrie Downtown Countdown
Since 1998, the City of Barrie has been hosting its signature Downtown Countdown event. This celebration is a New Year’s Eve tradition in Barrie and attracts residents and visitors from near and far. Every year, the City of Barrie invites local bands to submit for the opportunity to perform and share their talent on the Downtown Countdown stage. The event is unique and features two components geared to children and families, and youth and adults. The first part of the evening includes family-friendly performances, activities, games and a firework show. The latter of the evening features musical performances by the winners of the band search, headline entertainment and a second firework show to end off the celebration.
