The Western Fair is the City of London’s largest community event, one of Canada’s major fairs, and a top event in Ontario. Highlights include midway rides, fair food, music, animals, agriculture, art and entertainment for the whole family over 10 days. The event provides tremendous educational value to its predominantly urban patrons, by bridging the gap between urban and rural audiences, with agricultural programming, competitions, a free school tour program and tons of rural animals on display. For over 150 years the Western Fair has brought people together and a tradition of happy days at the fair.The first Western Fair was hosted in 1868, which was predominantly livestock shows, was held on September 29 & 30 in London, Ontario. By 1898, the Western Fair spanned to 10 days as it still does today, highlighting industrial and art exhibitions. Many, from far and wide, attended to see and talk about the latest agri-business trends and innovations in the industry. The Western Fair also became an exciting and prestigious community celebration. Everyone attended the Western Fair at some point through its run, and it was THE place to SEE and be SEEN. The Western Fair has a tradition of being one of the region's largest midways and bringing urban and rural audiences together. As each generation passes, the fair has evolved with its community to showcase the latest and greatest while also embracing traditions that bring joy to our community.
