Barrie Canada Day on the Move

Barrie's Canada Day celebrations are a highlight of the city's summer events, bringing together locals and visitors for a day of fun, culture, and community spirit. In 2024, the festivities took place across multiple locations around Barrie, with a new twist: Canada Day On The Move. This exciting re-format of the event featured travelling pop-up events at Lampman Lane Park, Sandringham Park, and Eastview Community Park, offering family-friendly activities throughout the day. This year's celebrations also included a pop-up Food Truck Festival at Centennial Park, where visitors could enjoy a variety of local and international eats, as well as entertainment from buskers. A spectacular fireworks display over Kempenfelt Bay to cap off the evening, which was visible from various vantage points along the waterfront. Barrie’s Canada Day on the Move event was designed to engage the community in every corner of the city, offering a mix of entertainment, education, and celebration. By moving into neighborhood parks, this helped remove barriers to attendance for those who may not be able to venture downtown, and instead brought the opportunity for residents to celebrate Canada Day with their neighbors in their area, where many can walk, bike, scooter, or take a quick drive to enjoy the event.
