Niagara Jazz Festival is an award-winning not-for-profit music festival dedicated to celebrating jazz and world music throughout the year with a summer festival in June. Now in its 12th season, the festival aims to inspire, educate, and develop jazz audiences by combining live music with an immersive Niagara experience: food, wine, culture, attractions, and natural wonders. Niagara Jazz Festival also hosts LIVE.LEARN.JAZZ educational events that include Master Class workshops and the popular JAZZ 4 the AGES Youth Competition - keeping jazz music alive for generations to come. East to West—a Musical Journey presents music from Japan to Canada. The concert in the Recital Hall of the Guelph Youth Music Centre includes Takemitsu, Distance de Fée; Bartók, Romanian Folk Dances; Brahms, Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major; Weinberg, Two Songs without Words; Raminsh, Aria (1987); Enman, Imagined Shapes (2022). This concert is the first of Guelph Musicfest’s Encore series, which includes a concert by the Zemlinsky String Quartet (from Prague) on Saturday October 25 at the GYMC.
