Event Description

Join the Friends of Wye Marsh and Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons for an awesome celebration of maple syrup this spring! Visit a real sugar shack, taste delicious maple taffy, roast bannock over a fire, shop our artisan market, enjoy make and take crafts, and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast at Restaurant Sainte-Marie!

From sweet samples, to hands-on fun, this two-day festival brings you on a journey from maple tree to table, and everywhere in between.

The Sweetwater Harvest Festival is a 2-day festival located in the Heart of Georgian Bay, celebrating the long standing tradition of harvesting and processing maple sap. Attendees will be treated to a full day's worth of memorable mapley experiences and sweet treats as they journey across two unique sites in both the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and neighbouring Sainte Marie Among the Hurons.

Beginning at Sainte Marie Among the Hurons, take home a local treasure at the Artisan Market, relive history through story-telling and reenactments, and experience sap (or 'sweetwater') as it was used here throughout history.

At the Wye Marsh, immerse yourself in nature and wildlife with a tour of the sugar bush. See sap become syrup in the sugar shack, get hands-on through a range of family-fun activities, and enjoy talented live musicians and entertainers.

Cap off your experience by satisfying your sweet tooth at any one of our vendors offering maple-inspired food.

  • -       Watch how sap is turned into liquid gold in the sugar shack
  • -       Taste delicious maple taffy on snow
  • -       Roast yummy bannock over a fire and dip it in syrup
  • -       Head to Restaurant Sainte-Marie to purchase a full pancake breakfast
  • -       Shop an artisan market featuring only local vendors and hand-made items
  • -       Explore make and take crafts for kids at both locations
  • -       Complete scavenger hunts to find historical artefacts and Canadian icons
  • -       And much more!

The Sweetwater Harvest Festival is the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre’s biggest special event of the year – and ONE ticket gets you access to TWO fantastic sites in 2026!
