Gran Fondo Lake Huron, Presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers

19 Aug - 20 Aug 2023 249 Day(s) Ago

Event Description

With its varied offering of five unique riding circuits ranging from 10km to 110km, including an 85km gravel route the Gran Fondo Lake Huron is a cyclists dream. Riders of all skill levels will enjoy this family friendly fundraising event taking place the third weekend of August.

Riders from the ages of 2 to 83 have participated in our event since its inception in 2018 and in partnership with our sponsors have raised over $843,000 (no event in 2020 due to covid). This year will be extra exciting as our riders will break the $1 million mark in fundraising. 100% of the dollars raised by our riders goes to support life-saving equipment needs at the hospital. Past years have seen our cyclists purchase items such as defibrillators and cardiac monitors with the biggest achievement in 2022 when riders raised over $400,000 to help successfully complete the $3 million CT scanner fundraising campaign.

It is estimated that 1,000 cyclists will take part in this scenic ride through several communities in Bruce County this August while taking in the country views, sunshine and breathtaking finish along the shoreline of Lake Huron. Riders will then enjoy the After Ride BBQ, complimentary beer and prizes/awards presentations.

This year’s event has been expanded into an entire weekend of fun for not only our participants and their families but the entire community. A new kids event will take place on Saturday morning, allowing the youngest of riders to enjoy numerous activity stops along a safe 1km route with a BBQ afterward.

Saturday evening we will be launching the First Annual Bruce County Bash at the Coliseum featuring live entertainment by Tommy Youngsteen (featuring members from the Arkells, Trews, Sam Roberts band, July Talk and more) and Canada's own 54-40, bar service and multiple food trucks on site. This will quickly become THE annual party of the summer in Bruce County.
