Event Description

Remember, learn and engage this Canada Day at Fort William Historical Park. Come explore the Anishinaabe Encampment and Fort William to learn about and celebrate our nation’s diverse heritage. As we kick-off our summer season, there’s plenty to see and do! Test your aim with axe throwing, atlatl (spear throwing) and lacrosse (baggataway). Sample traditional foods including wild rice (manomin) and shortbread. Enjoy a variety of entertainment including live music, and historical songs, dances and re-enactments. Visit the farm animals, make crafts, get your face painted, and more!


Venue Information - Fort William Historical Park

Fort William Historical Park features Fort William, one of the largest living history sites in North America. Discover Fort William, the inland headquarters of the North West Company, the world’s largest fur trading enterprise in the 1800s. Visit the nearby encampment learn about their traditional lifestyle, culture and heritage of the Anishinaabe, the region’s Indigenous people.
 
Fort William Historical Park also features night sky and solar viewing at the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory, a campground, canoe and kayak rentals, a variety of special events year-round, summer day camps, in-person and virtual education programs, and a variety of wedding and conference facilities.
