Key Features:

  • Whimsical Design: The park is designed to be playful and unique, with elements like candy-striped granite rock outcroppings and a dynamic water feature shaped like a maple leaf.
  • Sandy Beach: A triangular, sandy beach area provides a space for visitors to relax and enjoy the waterfront.
  • Pink Umbrellas: Dozens of pink umbrellas, which also double as light fixtures, are scattered across the beach, adding to the whimsical atmosphere.
  • Muskoka Chairs: Movable Muskoka chairs are available for visitors to sit and relax.
  • Rocky Amphitheater: A rocky amphitheater provides seating and an elevated vantage point.
  • Granite Pavers: Pedestrian areas are paved with granite setts in three colors, arranged in a stylized maple leaf motif.
  • Water Feature: A dynamic water feature embedded in a granite maple leaf provides a fun way for children (and adults) to cool off.
  • Plaza: A plaza adjacent to the park offers a dynamic space for public events.
  • Industrial Heritage: The park draws upon the industrial heritage of the area and its relationship to the nearby Redpath Sugar Refinery Museum.
  • No Water Access: While it's a "beach" in name, Sugar Beach does not have direct access to the water for swimming or other water activities.
  • Location: Located at the foot of Lower Jarvis Street, adjacent to the Redpath Sugar Factory.
