Ian McMillan was appointed the first Executive Director of Tourism Sault Ste. Marie in Sept. 2001 offering now close to 35 years of tourism marketing experience. He spent 18 years as the Executive Director of the Algoma Kinniwabi Travel Association and followed that as a Product Manager for Cities, Attractions and Touring with Northern Tourism Marketing Company.
As Executive Director of Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, Ian is responsible for working closely with its tourism industry partners and the TSSM Management Committee. Ian continues to promote and advocate all thing tourism related, and has been instrumental in the success of a long list of events and festivals in Sault Ste. Marie. His involvement with organizing and hosting major events include the Labatt Brier, Bon Soo Winter Carnival, Eco-Challenge North American Championship and the CARHA World Cup to name a few.
Ian graduated from Humber College with an honour’s diploma in Public Relations and is a Certified Travel Industry Specialist. With 35+ years in the tourism industry as a dedicated professional, Ian continues to contribute to the local community and to the industry at large.
