Jan, the owner of Alliance Advantage, an event management company was the Coordinator of the successful International Plowing Match staged in Leeds-Grenville in 2007. She has also worked for Festivals and Events Ontario as their Network Development Manager and was the initiator and Manager of the first Festival & Events Resource Centre in the province. Jan has been involved in special events for more than 30 years, first as Port Elgin’s Recreation Director and for 8 years as the Special Event Coordinator for the Port Elgin Chamber of Commerce. Her main responsibility was the Pumpkinfest event that has won more than 29 provincial awards including the “Peoples Choice as the Most Popular Event in Ontario”. Jan has also been honored by her peers by being inducted into the Festival & Events Ontario Hall of Fame for her outstanding contributions to the festival industry.
Jan has served as an executive member on many boards and committees and was selected as Port Elgin’s Citizen of the Year and inducted into their Royals Hall of Fame for her community work. Her educational background includes attending the University of Windsor in Honors Physical Education and Fanshawe College in Recreation Leadership. Jan is also a SuperHost trainer. Jan truly understands the importance of combining recreation, tourism and special events to benefit not only the visitor but also every small town in Ontario
