Jaye was appointed Director of Toronto Special Events in 1998. Prior to that, she served in various special event and protocol management positions with the former City of North York for over ten years. She played an active leadership role in the festivals and events industry, including President of Festival and Events Ontario for five years, guest speaker at Provincial conferences and developed a national certification program and special events course at George Brown College.
Her vision to produce city wide signature events that have an impact on community development and the economy while building profile for the City of Toronto has been realized many times over. Jaye mounted Canada’s largest Millennium celebration which attracted over one million people along the waterfront, as well as a world-wide television audience. In the year 2000, she produced the Moose in the City exhibition, which proved to be a unique summer attraction, gathering extensive national and international media attention.
