23-year-old Ukrainian pianist Illia Ovcharenko has been praised as “technically
flawless and impeccably musical” (International Piano). His recent top prize win
at the prestigious 2022 Honens International Piano Competition in Calgary has
established him as one of the most important emerging pianists of his generation.
Highlights of the 2024-25 season include the release of two albums of solo piano
music, debuts with orchestras in Israel, Germany, the US and Canada, and recitals in
Berlin, Warsaw and Dubai. At the Barn, Illia presents Chopin’s glorious “Polonaise
in A Flat”, Liszt’s monumental “Sonata in B minor” and works by fellow Ukrainian
countrymen Bortkiewicz, Lyatoshinsky and Revutsky
